For the 2019/20 and 2020/21 school years the Foundation is participating in two matching scholarship programs. In the first year of participation the Foundation distributed more than $40,000 for 22 students and seminarians, for a total of more than $100,000 in matched scholarship funds.

Excellence in Clergy Leadership Scholarship
From the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry: “Designated for Full time, MDIV student enrolled at one of the 13 United Methodist seminaries/schools of theology, enrolled as pursuing certified candidacy or certified candidate for ministry (elder or deacon), with demonstrated merit, progress, and commitment in the candidacy process. Demonstrated financial need and how this scholarship will help avoid additional student loans.”

United Methodist Dollars for Scholars Application
From the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation (UMHEF): “The United Methodist Dollars for Scholars program involves matching support from a student’s church, UMHEF, participating United Methodist-related schools and participating UMC Conference Foundations. You can apply for both the Named Endowed Scholarship and UM Dollars For Scholars Program through UMHEF, and we will provide you with the largest scholarship support.”

Permanent Scholarship Funds with the Foundation
The Foundation is blessed and honored to carry on the legacy of Christian saints that have gone before us by managing donated funds for permanent scholarship purposes. The following highlights seven such funds and the years in which they began with the Foundation:

  • 1955, a fund to honor Rev. Dr. Aubrey S. Moore, “treasurer for the Foundation almost from the beginning”
  • 1971, “EUB Scholarship Fund” for “college and seminary students who were going into the ministry”
  • 1976, “Ministerial Scholarships,” Lydia L. Massier (donor), “distributed to the Northern Illinois Conference Board of Ministry for ministerial scholarships”
  • 1994, “Anna R. Fornega Fund,” “purpose of assisting worthy young men and women pursue a college education”
  • 1996, “Preston & Maude Woods Memorial Fund,” to “provide scholarships for Methodist seminary students”
  • 1998, “Anne Lois Turnham Fund,” “ministerial scholarship fund”
  • 2010, “D. Lyman Hubbard, Ruby B. Hubbard, and D. Roland Hubbard Scholarship Fund,” “seminarians preparing for the Methodist Ministry”
